Procrastination and me

Procrastination and me

It’s amazing how fast a week can fly by when a deadline is approaching.

This time last week I was sat down, pens neatly arranged in a line, my books piled in ascending order based on the number of pages in them, my emails were up to date and most importantly I had moved all the coins in my savings into piles based on denomination. Read the rest of this entry »

Well I’m convinced – Sex at Dawn by @ChrisRyanPhD and C Jetha

It’s been a long time since I have had a book which I couldn’t put down. Guess what, I found one.

Sex at Dawn by Chris Ryan and Cacilda Jetha is one of the most fascinating and thought-provoking books I have ever come across. The “headline” on the front cover states that this book will tell you “how we mate, why we stray, and what it means for modern relationships”.

The perspective of Donaldson is interesting. She studied under Piaget early in her career at his institute in Geneva, where he had a huge influence on her thinking. It was later that she began to question some of Piaget’s theories, which eventually led to this book. Read the rest of this entry »

Reading far and wide….

I’ve heard this term used a few times by tutors. “The Open University materials will be enough but we advise you read far and wide”. In terms of direction, Far and wide feels a little vague, especially as I’m trying to improve my essay scores. That being said, I think I will start near and…skinny (what is the opposite of wide).
